Liberia First Batch of Sheep Slaughtered

News & Events

June 6, 2025 – Mina, Saudi Arabia
Under the spiritual guidance and supervision of the National Muslim Council of Liberia and the Hajj Agency of Liberia, Liberian pilgrims participating in this year’s Hajj have successfully performed one of the key rites of the pilgrimage — the slaughtering of sheep in Mina. This ritual, known as Qurbani or Udhiya, symbolizes Prophet Ibrahim’s obedience to Allah and is a significant part of the Eid al-Adha observance during Hajj.

The first batch of 320 sheep was sacrificed today in accordance with Islamic rites, marking a moment of devotion and spiritual fulfillment for the Liberian pilgrims. The act of slaughter is one of the final rituals of Hajj and is performed after pilgrims have completed other major rites, such as the standing at Arafat (Wuquf), spending the night at Muzdalifah, and stoning the Jamarat in Mina.

The National Muslim Council of Liberia expressed gratitude to Allah for enabling the Liberian pilgrims to reach this milestone in good health and unity. The Council also commended the pilgrims for their discipline and adherence to the rituals of Hajj, encouraging them to continue praying for Liberia, especially for peace, prosperity, and unity back home.

More updates from the Liberian Hajj delegation will follow as pilgrims continue the final stages of this sacred journey.
