A Beacon of Faith and Unity for the Muslim Community in Dao Town, Yarweillie

On July 14, 2023, the National Muslim Council of Liberia (NMCL) proudly participated in the official opening ceremony of a new Masjid located in Dao Town, Yarweillie, Borlorla Township, Gibi District, Margibi County. The establishment of this house of worship marks a significant milestone in the Council’s mission to expand access to spiritual spaces for Liberia’s growing Muslim population.

The joyous occasion was graced by a cross-section of the community, including local leaders, residents, and dignitaries, most notably District Representative Hon. Clarence Gah, whose presence highlighted the importance of religious harmony and community development.

The inaugural sermon was delivered by Imaam Salleh A. Kanneh, Head of the Body of Imaams within the NMCL, who served as the guest preacher. His message emphasized the power of faith, unity, and collective responsibility in building both strong communities and a stronger nation.

With its doors now open, the Masjid is expected to serve as a spiritual hub for Muslims in Dao Town and surrounding areas. It will host regular daily prayers, Juma (Friday) congregational prayers, and serve as a center for Islamic teachings, youth mentorship, and community engagement.

The NMCL applauds the efforts of all individuals and organizations who contributed to the completion of the Masjid and remains committed to supporting the establishment of more religious infrastructure that brings communities together under the values of peace, service, and devotion
